Interview: Jacob Davis, See What All The Buzz Is About 'Sooner Than Later'

Jacob Davis

It’s not often that my entire Twitter and Facebook feed suddenly blow up with a new artist that I’m not familiar with, but that’s exactly what happened with Shreveport, Louisiana native, Jacob Davis. I’ll admit, I’m a little disappointed in myself for not discovering his music sooner, one because it’s really good and two because there’s something a little different and unique about it that sets it apart from the current top 40 hits. Jacob’s talent not only as a singer, but also as a songwriter is apparent after hearing just a few of his songs. It’s not just that the songs are catchy, it’s more about Jacob’s ability to make listeners believe the words he’s singing and being able to paint the picture through his lyrics, that make the songs resonate with listeners.

Song of the Week: "I Know Somebody" by LOCASH

Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, make up the duo better known as LOCASH.  They’re crazy work ethic (playing some 150 plus shows a year), incredible song writing talent (“You Gonna Fly”, “Truck Yeah”), and energetic live shows are setting them up to have a big year in 2016!  Their new single, “I Know Somebody” written by Rhett Akins, Ross Copperman, and Jeremy Stover follows the release of their new I Love This Life EP with hit single of the same name and a new label (LOCASH signed with Reviver Records last year), but it almost didn’t make it onto their EP.  “Somebody actually tried to get it at the last second,” Preston says, but they fought to keep it and it’s a good thing they did!  With its smooth beats and even smoother lyrics, you can picture the entire song actually unfolding in front of your eyes in real life and the guy getting the girl in the end.  Give it a listen below and let us know what you think.

Maren Morris Is Becoming Her Own Hero This Summer

One of country music’s coolest new comers, Maren Morris dropped a bombshell of an announcement this morning when she posted that her debut album, Hero, will be available June 3rd!  The album will feature current hit track, “My Church”, along with 10 other songs Maren co-wrote including “I Wish I Was”, which Maren says inspired her to name the album Hero.   “‘I Wish I Was’ is the most autobiographical song on this record and I admittedly was not the hero in that story, but I am the hero in mine. I’ve come such a long way from who I was in Texas, who I am as a writer, who I am as a woman today. I think the message of this record is self acceptance and awareness, and that to me is heroic.”  Besides dropping what is sure to be one of the most anticipated albums of the summer, Maren heads out on tour with Keith Urban and Brett Eldredge for the RipCORD World Tour which makes a stop in Minneapolis on November 5th and tickets are still available.  To hold you over until the June 3rd release date, get your fill of Maren’s catchy, real life lyrics and soulful voice by grabbing her EP on iTunes or streaming it on Spotify.

The Cadillac Three's New Single Is Your Perfect Drinking Playlist

The Cadillac Three

Fresh off a head lining UK tour and a few opening slots on Kip Moore’s Wild Ones tour, country fuzz band, The Cadillac Three have released another new single ahead of their upcoming album.  “Soundtrack To A Six Pack” has Jaren Johnston’s uniquely raspy voice name dropping some of the country music and rock n’ roll greats as having the perfect drinking songs.  Written by Jaren Johnston, Neil Mason, and Ben Cashatt, “Soundtrack To A Six Pack” lists everything from ZZ Top to the Charlie Daniel’s Band as having the perfect tunes to crank up while polishing off some ice cold beers with friends.  The song is the second single the band has put out off their upcoming album with a yet to be announced release date.  Their song, “Graffiti” came out back in January, with the music video coming out last week as well.  Crank up “Soundtrack To A Six Pack” along with the tunes mentioned in the song this weekend for a sure to be good time!

Song of the Week: Nestor AnDress "Drunk At A Bar"

With the song title, “Drunk At A Bar” you’re probably expecting one of two things, 1. another heartbreak song or 2. the new theme song to a night out with your buddies, but Nestor AnDress covers neither of those topics in his new song.  He takes a creatively different approach and turns “Drunk At A Bar” into a love song that paints the picture of a strong relationship between a couple who knows how to keep the spark alive.  When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Nestor says, “A kiss between two individuals that are attracted to each other is one of the most intoxicating feelings. In that moment of affectionate expression, nothing in the world matters. That’s what ran through my mind and forced the ink from my pen to the paper when “Drunk at a Bar” was written.”  Give “Drunk At A Bar” a listen below and for more of Nestor’s music grab his new EP Falling In Love now on iTunes and Spotify.  To learn more about this talented new comer check out his website and the interview we did with him back in February.

Garth Brooks had some interesting news for fans this morning.  He posted the below note on his Facebook page which starts off letting fans know just how much fun he’s having on tour and how much he appreciates them!  Brooks then goes on to say that having taken a break from writing, he’s still working to get back to a place where he is confident in his writing and because of this he is asking for fans’ patience as he delays the release of his new album.  Not to worry though because Brooks will be making it up to them by giving a behind the scenes look at the entire process of making the record “using Facebook LIVE like you have never seen it.”  He also promises the new album, “will be the most Garth thing” he’s ever done when it releases hopefully later this summer.
