IronCowgirl2015

The Iron Cowgirl Competition (www.ironcowgirlevent.com) will be held Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23 at SomerStar Ranch at Somerset Amphitheater in Somerset, Wisconsin (715 Spring Street).

Iron Cowgirl is a high-energy competition that will test competitor’s strength, athleticism, courage, and skills as a horsewoman. Spectators are encouraged to come support the competitors and enjoy the many attractions available throughout the weekend, including live music, line dancing lessons, a petting zoo, pony rides, food, beverages, camping and more.

This event promises thrilling competition and fun activities for spectators! Competition is limited to 50 cowgirls. The competitive events include bareback barrels, barrel racing, pennant race, pole bending, scudda ho, goat dressing, goat tying, rescue race, one-man sort and breakaway roping. Competitors select the events they want to compete in and points are awarded cumulatively. The cowgirl with the highest overall score will be crowned the “2015 Iron Cowgirl”.

There will be more than $10,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs to the top finishers.

Following the competitive events on Friday and Saturday nights, Rice Bull Riding Company presents Championship Bulls ‘n Barrel – where male and female top talent in bull riding and barrel racing compete for additional cash prizes.

The evening continues in Maggie’s Saloon with live country music after the competitions end. Friday night features Dirt Road Prophets and Saturday night features opener Johnny Tornado and headliner Andy Calhoun. Other event activities include line dancing lessons on Saturday with Line Dance Evolution, a drill team performance by the Apple River Riders Saddle Club, a petting zoo and pony rides. The Somerset Amphitheater campgrounds will be available for camping onsite.
